Production, packaging and storage
We have over 40 years of experience in the production of quality hay and do all the production ourselves. We strive for high quality where we follow grass production from start to finish. By analyzing the grass against the rabbit's nutritional needs, we get a better basis for developing the product. To ensure quality, we inspect the meadows for weeds manually before harvesting as well as during packing. When harvesting, the grass is cut with a mower before it is turned over for quick drying outside in the meadows. The hay is then collected together with a hay wagon to the barn, where the hay is distributed with a hay cannon for drying.
The hay is left in the barn until it is to be packed, before it is lifted manually into a hay chute where the hay is inspected before packing in our specially manufactured packing machine.
We recommend that the bags are stored in a dark and dry place so that the quality is maintained as best as possible.
About us
We are a family of 4 who live on a small farm in the mythical Svartdals mountains in Telemark. At Brekka Gård, we are the fourth generation and amidst blooming meadows, fairy tales and Norwegian traditions, we grow hay for rabbits and small rodents.
We produce on a small scale and we strive to make feed of good quality.
Kirby & Bella
Kirby & Bella are two mixed rabbits between Dwarf Ram and Løvehode who love Telemarkshøy. Two welcome family members who are our ambassadors and faithful loud testers.
About Brekka Gård
The farm has been in the family's possession since 1912 and through four generations the farm has gone from being a shuttle station with post and telegraph to eggs, piglets, and milk production. Today, the farm produces quality hay for small animals.
